Remembering Names
by: Dermot Fitzpatrick
A customer has just walked in, greeted you and then
launched into full conversation. You vaguely remember their face but their
name escapes you completely. Don’t want to be stuck trying to recall a name
again? Next time you meet someone new try one of these techniques.
1.Concentrate on only the name make and make sure you hear it properly.
2.Get a clear impression of the person in your mind.
3.Repeat the name in conversation but be sure not to overuse it.
4.Write the name down for future reference.
5.Spell out the name.
6.Associate the name with something connected to the person.
7.Break the name into syllables.
8.Use alliteration, for instance Tall Timothy.
With any luck, one of these techniques will work for you and you won’t ever
have someone walk away leaving you wondering, “Who was that?”
