Clicking Miscellaneous
onestep Customer Letters on the Menu Bar will display a list of all the customer letters you have created. You can sort the list by any column by clicking the column heading. Click the same column heading again to sort in the opposite direction.

You can search for a letter by clicking a field in any column you want to search (i.e. Date) and start typing. Quick Estimator™ 2005 will move to the nearest match. Keep typing until you find the one you want. If there is more than one match (i.e. you have more than one letter with the same date) just hold down the Shift
key and hit Enter. Quick Estimator™ 2005 will move to the next match.

Double-click a row to open a letter in the Customer Letters screen where you can view or edit the complete details for the letter.

The Customer Letters screen lets you create and store letters to one or more customers. These letters can be used over and over by simply changing the recipient.

Use the Browse
drop-down list to browse through your letters. You can also search for a letter by typing a letter title in the Browse drop-down list. As you type the list will filter out the closest matches. Keep typing until you find the one you want. Hit the Enter key to move to that letter.

Clicking the Options
button will display the drop-down menu shown below.

Select Add New Letter
to add a new letter.

Select Add / Edit Recipients
to add or edit the recipients for the letter.

Select Edit In Word Processor
to open the letter in the built-in word processor.

Select Format Header
to format the customers name, address and salutation.

Select Delete Letter
to delete a letter.

Click the Print
button and select Preview to preview how the letter will look before printing it.

Click the Print
button and select Email to email a letter as a PDF file. This is only available for letters with one recipient. See the Emailing Reports topic to learn more about emailing reports from Quick Estimator™ 2005.

Click the Print
button and select Fax to fax a letter using your computers fax software. This is only available for letters with one recipient. See the Faxing Reports topic to learn more about faxing from Quick Estimator™ 2005.

Click the Print
button and select Print to send the letter straight to the printer.

do-it Adding A New Customer Letter

First enter a title for the letter in the Title field. This is just to help distinguish letters, it will not be part of the letter.  

Select a date for the Date field. The current date is entered for you by default. This is just the creation date of the letter and it will not be part of the letter.  

The header section of the letter which includes the customer name, address and salutation will be filled in for you by Quick Estimator™ 2005. Click the Format Header link to format the text. This will open the screen shown below, which will let you change font, size and color etc.

Choose the font settings you want for the header section of the letter. Click the OK button when done. Click the Cancel button to cancel any changes you made.  

You can enter the text for the body of the letter before adding any recipients. You can click the Options button and select Edit In Word Processor to open the text in a small word processor where you can format it. See the image below.

When you have finished typing the text for the body you should click the Options button and select Add / Edit Recipients to add one or more recipients for the letter. This will open the Letter Recipients screen shown below.

You enter new recipients on the last line with the star button next to it. If you list is long you may have to scroll down to see this line.  

Select the customer screen the Customer drop-down list. You can optionally select a project and or an estimate to reference in the letter.  

To delete a recipient click the xbutton button next to the one you want to delete.  

Click the Close button to return to the Customer Letters screen.
