F onestep If you have the Full version you can also find projects by project barcode. If you don't have a barcode scanner, you can type the barcode number in instead and hit the Enter key. You will find the barcode number printed beside the barcode. See the example below. do-it Adding A New Project

The first thing you must do when creating a new project, is select the customer the project belongs to from the Customer drop-down-list. This field cannot be blank. When you have selected the customer, the rest of the fields will become available. You must select a customer from the list, you cannot just type one in. If the customer you want is not on the list, click the editlistbutton to add them. When you select a customer the address information and a default project name will be entered for you. You can edit any of this information.

Next you must enter a project name in the Name field. This field cannot be blank. Quick Estimator™ 2005 will have entered a default name based on the customer name when you selected the customer.

Fill in as much information as you can. The minimum information required is the Customer and Project Name.

If you are not using the Replication feature, the Project # will be automatically entered for you. You can edit the number as required. If you are using the Replication feature then you will have to enter the Project # yourself. The replication feature is only available in the Full version.

You can select a project type from the Project Type drop-down list. Also you can select the foreman for this project from the Foreman drop-down list. To add to or edit this list, click the editlistbutton button to the right of the drop-down list.

If you select a Estimate Due date and you have checked Estimate To-Do List on the To-Do List tab of the Setup / Defaults section, Quick Estimator™ 2005 will create a To-Do List item for you to remind when the estimate for this project is due.

There are four custom fields you can use to store additional information about a project. To edit the names of the custom fields, click Setup / Tools on the Main Bar, then click Set / Defaults and then click Custom Fields.

If you have chosen the Custom tax method on the Setup / Default screen, then the following section will be visible on the projects screen.

projecttaxsetup
This lets choose a different tax setup for each project. If you have entered default taxes on the Setup / Default then these will already be entered for you. Select different taxes if you want or select < NA > for no tax. Make sure and check off the categories that each tax applies to. If you make changes to the tax setup for an existing project that you have already created estimates for, you must click the Update All Estimates button to recalculate those estimates.
